We start to panic, and it seems the harder we try to escape the screaming, the louder it grows, the slower we get. We move as swiftly as we can. My heartrate rises, which I’m thankful for. At least, a beating heart is a rarity here; a blesssing out of shear luck. I’m clenching my teeth. Her hand is weakening and I’m dragging her body with every fiberous muscle. I need to find a house, a place to rest. Just then, the screaming crowd circles around us. They stop screaming. Our eyes meet. She collapses. I lay on the ground. Theres nothing to grab onto.
